This year, spring awakening in the vineyards was a little delayed. The beginning of the year was marked by extreme drought, so the buds of the vines also allowed themselves a little more time before budding.
When May brought the hoped-for rainfall, the fresh greenery returned to the Kamptal landscape. Sun and rain paired around the sensitive flowering period. The muggy weather required special attention in organic vineyard management which sporadically led to natural reduction in yield. The couluring brought loose-bunched grapes, which were a great advantage during harvest time.
The summer remained exciting. It was very warm, although without any drought stress situation for the vines in the Kamptal. Powerful clouds regularly brought lightning, thunder and rain, once also hail, which passed through the northern part of Langenlois.
On September 5th we started our harvest with grapes for our sparkling wines. Intermingled weather brought cool nights and repeatedly short harvest stops. The loose-bunched grapes remained healthy, and the variety of aroma slowly started to evolve until we were able to harvest them carefully by hand, ripe, but not overripe.
We want to thank the entire vineyard and cellar team for turning this challenging vintage into something great.
We wish you much pleasure with the new vintage.
